Velvet Underground - How was it for you?

After having performed under names like The Warlocks and The Falling Spikes, the New York band The Velvet Underground really took off in 1964. Lou Reed and John Cale were the best known band members, making experimental rock, art rock, proto punk, drone and psychedelic rock music.

The title of a book by Michael Leigh, The Velvet Underground, was embraced as the ideal band name. And that is no wonder, because the novel was about the secret sexual subculture of the early sixties – exactly the favorite subject of all band members.

Active: 1964-1973; 1990; 1992-1994; 1996, USA
